Membership and Borrowing

About Our Library Card

A Library Card allows you to do more than simply borrow books and other materials from our library. You can:

  • Request any of the almost 4 million items from other libraries through interlibrary loans with TRAC (The Regional Automation Consortium) and TAL (The Alberta Library)
  • Access the online E-resources & reference services
  • Manage your library account online - review your lists, request and renew items
  • Download Audio and e-Books through TRAC

Getting a Library Card

To get a library card, you will need a piece of identification with your legal name and a current address. For children without school ID cards, a health card will suffice.

All children under the age of 16 are required to have a parent/legal guardian accept responsibility for their borrowing privileges by signing their registration card. While library staff may suggest age-appropriate materials and activities, it remains the parent’s/guardian’s responsibility to monitor their child’s borrowing habits should they choose to do so.

The library assumes no responsibility for limiting or restricting access to materials for individual card holders. Library card holders - including children - have access to all library materials.

Card holders may not lend their cards.

Borrowing privileges or use of services (including public computers) may be suspended for fines over $10.00.

To speed up the registration process, please feel free to download the application forms at home, then just bring to library along with your ID:

Fines for Overdue, Lost or Damaged Items

We do not charge fines for overdue items.

Damaged items and lost items are billed at their replacement cost.

Borrowing privileges may be suspended when fines reach $10.

Renewing Items

Items from our library will be renewed automatically on their due date until renewal limit is reached OR a request is placed on an item by another patron.

This does NOT apply to items from other libraries - you will still need to renew online by logging in to your account at TRACpac, in person at the library, by phone at (780) 354-2569, by email at librarian@beaverlodgelibrary.ab.ca.

Most items may be renewed twice, unless other patrons have holds on the item or if you owe more than $5.00 in fines.

Placing Holds

Can't find what you're looking for on the shelves? You can place a hold in person, by phone, or online by logging in to your account at TRACpac

Please suspend your holds if you will be away for an extended period of time or cancel holds that are no longer desired. You can do so in person, by phone, or online by logging in to your account at TRACpac

Lost or Stolen Card

For your protection, contact the library immediately to report a lost or stolen card so we can stop others from using it. You are responsible for anything borrowed until it is  reported. Replacement cards are $3.
